 Webmin/Virtualmin installation on a VPS
Solution The following steps will get you started with Webmin/Virtualmin on your Developer VPS.

Start with a fresh CentOS 5.2:

1. Install Yum

2. Connect SSH to your VPS and type:

wget http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/scripts/install.sh
/bin/sh install.sh

(this will install webmin/virtualmin and all its dependencies)

3. Login to Virtualmin

Login: root
Password: (your VPS password)

4. Run the "System Information + check" - most likely you will get the following error:

No Ethernet interface could be automatically found on your system. Use the module configuration page to set the interface manually... your system is not ready for use by Virtualmin.

5. Go to: Virtualmin>System Settings>Module Config>Server Settings > "Network interface for virtual addresses" and add: venet0:0

6. Change the HTML content directory from /var/ to /home/ - go to: Webmin > Servers > Apache Webserver > Default Server > Document Options > Document root directory > Change from default to /home.

7. Now you can create your domains with Virtualmin.

Virtualmin creates the following pop3 login format "user.domain" - rather than the more common used "user@domain.com"

Applies to:
VPS Hosting (Developer)
